Settled nearly two centuries ago, the Rockford region has a proud lineage of excellence and ingenuity made possible by its iconic brands and people. From aerospace and fashion runways to media and sports arenas to the Moon and Mars, the Forest City’s roots transcend generations and place.

Inspired by the Rockford region's vast contributions to the world, which trace back to 1834 when it was first settled along a rocky ford, Founders Commission was established in 2023 as a certified 501(c)(3) nonprofit that amplifies the community.
